What an incredible start to the winter 2017 / 2018. With another 15cm of fresh snow across Les Arcs, the piste were covered in virgin Powder for the first day of the season. After the recent poor starts to the Alpine winter season, this has been an incredible turnaround and a welcome one!
Today was the first day on the team for Steven McDonald, our new snowboard instructor and off-piste specialist. Steven lives locally in Séez, and has run a successful Chalet business for many seasons, Whiteroom chalets. Steven also works as a mountain bike guide in summer running trips to Les Arcs and the surrounding area.
Our lessons this morning all had the privilege of getting fresh tracks across the resort and perfect conditions prevailed. The visibility varied but was generally quite good.
The latest chairlift in Les Arcs 1950 is the Pre Saint Esprit chairlift. What a difference this makes for ski lessons! The lift is fast and comfortable with heated seats and a cover. This makes video feedback possible on the chairlift which is fantastic for developing skier understanding and awareness. The piste itself has been remodelled and lends itself perfectly to teaching snowplough and basic parallel turns. Les Arcs really has made a fantastic improvement with this upgrade.
Following our lessons this after, JP and Stevo got the opportunity to have blast around the slopes and check out the conditions on and off the piste. Light Powder and great coverage make this one of the best starts tonwinter for a very longtime! Check out their video from the day to see more!
